Privacy

Updated October 17, 2026. This policy covers Weighsies at weighsies.dev and the Weighsies iOS app, operated by Isaac Audet. No account is required to play. The game is intended for a general audience.

Progress on your device

Progress, streaks, collection and settings are saved in browser or app storage. Clearing that storage removes local progress but does not delete server records. Recent unsent results may also be stored locally for retry; expired retries are removed when the game checks its queue.

Results and leaderboards

The game sends completed results and applicable gameplay samples to its server so players can compare results. A random receipt for each result prevents retries from being counted twice. Leaderboards store a persistent pseudonymous player identifier, a generated or chosen display name, scores and gameplay proofs used to check results. Names and scores appear on leaderboards; a leading run's proof can be sent to other players for playback. Please avoid using your real name if you prefer not to.

Shares

Sharing uses the destinations you choose on your device. The server counts share and copy actions by day, mode, method and content type; those aggregate counters do not identify a recipient. A successful share does not tell us whether a recipient opened a link.

Twitch mode

When a streamer starts Twitch mode with their channel, the server keeps that channel’s name, how many times it was started and when it was first and last started, so we can see who streams the game. Chat is read anonymously in the streamer’s browser; nothing chat types is sent to our server or kept.

Checking attempts

The website uses an essential first-party cookie, valid for 60 days, to keep guesses and cuts consistent across retries. It stores a signed random identifier, separate from optional analytics. The server stores a hashed identifier, puzzle reference and submitted guess or cut before revealing the answer. These attempt records use an eight-day cleanup cutoff triggered by traffic; hosting backups are separate. Clearing the cookie starts a new anonymous session.

DLE Club and optional sign-in

Weighsies is part of DLE Club. Its results screen loads the club’s script from dleclub.com for today’s gauntlet: the club uses a random player identifier, and your day’s result here can count toward it. If you choose to sign in to the club, supported progress can sync across devices, and this game’s leaderboards can show your club name in place of a generated one. Public club boards can display your chosen name and scores. See DLE Club’s privacy policy for its account, sign-in and syncing practices.

Hosting and abuse prevention

Vercel hosts the website and API; the configured server storage uses Neon. Hosting providers process network information such as IP addresses to serve requests. The application's write-rate limiter stores a salted hash that changes daily rather than the address itself. This is separate from the result and leaderboard data. Hosting logs and provider backups are separate from application database cleanup.

Retention and requests

The server periodically cleans older daily results, samples and daily leaderboard runs using a 45-day cutoff; cleanup is triggered by traffic, so this is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. Leaderboard cleanup also limits the scores kept per board and removes orphaned player records. Aggregate optional gameplay counters use a 90-day cutoff, retry receipts also have a seven-day cleanup path, and expired rate-limit counters are periodically cleaned after approximately two days. Some non-daily board records and aggregate share counts have no time-based deletion rule in the game code.

For help, privacy questions or deletion requests, contact support@dleclub.com. Include the game, display name, puzzle day and enough information to locate the relevant record. Aggregate counts cannot necessarily be attributed to a particular player. Clearing local data alone does not request server deletion.

Website analytics and reliability

Optional Google Analytics counts visits, games started and finished, shares, and how smoothly the game runs (frame rate and load times). It keeps a first-party cookie with a random id, so a return visit counts as the same browser; it is not linked to a name or email, and Google signals and ad personalisation are off for it. In the EU, the UK and nearby it starts only after you say yes; elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control, which counts as no until you say yes. Google Analytics and website error monitoring through Sentry follow the website's analytics choice in Stats. The bundled iOS app does not enable these website integrations. Game result, leaderboard and share-counter API requests operate independently of optional website analytics.

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views on the website: the page, the site you came from, and your country, browser and kind of device. It uses no cookie and no identifier, and leaves out the codes in a link. It is off once you say no to analytics, or when your browser sends Global Privacy Control. The iOS app doesn't use it.

Playwire website advertising

We are preparing to use Playwire for website advertising. This disclosure applies to the website; advertising in any native mobile app is described separately.

All or partial advertising on this Website or App is managed by Playwire LLC. If Playwire publisher advertising services are used, Playwire LLC may collect and use certain aggregated and anonymized data for advertising purposes. To learn more about the types of data collected, how data is used and your choices as a user, please visit https://www.playwire.com/privacy-policy.

Advertising

The website may show Google AdSense ads, with the website's Google consent and analytics choices. The iOS app uses Google AdMob banner ads on menus and results, outside gameplay. It requests non-personalized ads. Before an ad request, the app refreshes consent information and checks whether Google's consent flow permits requests. Where required, a consent form appears; you can reopen required privacy options using “Ad privacy choices” in Stats. Ads remain unavailable when consent information cannot be obtained or does not permit a request.

Google's Mobile Ads SDK may process IP addresses, which can indicate approximate location, app- or developer-scoped identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, crash logs and performance information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and diagnose problems. Puzzle answers, leaderboard names and gameplay proofs are not sent to AdMob by the game. See Google's Privacy Policy and information about Google's partner services.
